The premise of the story surrounds a father who is enlisted in the military and is trying to get home to his family for the Christmas holiday. “All is Bright” features an all-star cast including Tony and Emmy nominee Joseph Campanella, Latin Grammy nominee Patty Cabrera, and 7-time Grammy winners Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. Cast also includes Scott Reed (from the Heritage Singers and Faith First) as Peter, the husband, and Courtney Crook (a student from Newbury Park Adventist Academy), who plays daughter Gracie. Christian Edition from Southern California also appear as musical guests.

“King of the Zombies“: During World War 2, a small plane off the south coast of America is low on fuel and blown off course by a storm. Guided by a faint radio signal, they crashland on an island. The passenger, his manservant and the pilot take refuge in a mansion owned by a doctor. The easily-spooked manservant soon becomes convinced the mansion is haunted by zombies and ghosts. Exploring, the 3 find a voodoo ritual in the cellar, where the doctor is trying to acquire war intelligence by transferring personalities into his zombies. But the interruption causes the zombies to turn on their creator.

Northern Light Orchestra

“Apnea“: Everything is quiet. No one can hear you or your thought. You don’t have to speak, you don’t even have to breathe…Dimitris, a 23-year-old swimmer who knows the liberating silence and isolation of the water, dives into a dark pool after achieving success in an international meet. As he lets his body float in the water, memories from the past flood his head as he remembers his relationship with Elsa, whose mysterious disappearance remains unsolved and unexplained. Stars Sotiris Pastras, Yioulika Skafida, George Karamichos.

“Colin Hearts Kay“: Brooklyn based cartoonist Colin Jenson has just broken up with his longtime girlfriend, Kay Ho. Colin takes us on a hilarious journey through his memories to uncover what went wrong over their three-year relationship and who was to blame. The non-linear adventure is illustrated through a comic and innovative style combining direct address, fantastical special effects, and animation as we step into the world of Colin’s cartoon drawings. Colin’s pursuit of love suffers a severe setback when Kay is introduced to the handsome hedge fund manager, Salvatore. Colin and Salvatore ultimately engage in a combination live-action and animated gladiator fight set in a hand-drawn Roman coliseum. Meanwhile, Kay struggles with the restrictive customs and cultural mores passed on to her by her traditional, Chinese parents. Is love duty and sacrifice, as they say? Or is it cartoony fireworks, as Colin would have it? Ultimately it’s up to Colin to erase the mistakes of his past and draw upon lessons learned to win back the heart of his true love.

“Paseo“: A single mother decides to go on a trip from Santiago to the north of Chile with her only son. They are going to meet with the child’s father, a Chilean coal miner, after ten years of separation. The trip is plagued by silence, as the uneasy relationship between the mother and her son evolves and secrets of the past are brought to the surface, in this poignant tale of broken family ties. Stars Gabriela Aguilera, Roberto Farias and Felipe Prieto.

“My Pure Joy“: On the outside Adam appears to be a normal teenager, but underneath…his mind has been so rotted by trauma from his past and the gory films he watches, that he has blurred the lines between reality and pretend! This prompts Adam to start killing people in similar ways to films he watches, making sure to put his own little spin on it.

“The Secret KGB Sex Files“: The KGB was, for 50 years, an intelligence agency using money, sex, and blackmail as tools to entice foreigners to betray their countries and hand over secret information. We enter the vaults of the KGB to see the use of the “Honey Trap” — the use of women in sexual situations to snare victims and obtain secret information. How did the KGB identify U.S. Marines who worked at the U.S. Embassy and target them, leading to compromise and in the case of marine Lonetree, to a 30 year prison sentence? We see a bumbling FBI agent selling out his country for sex in a car, and the CIA officer who lived a lavish lifestyle at the cost of agents’ lives. Hidden cameras reveal seduction, passion and sexual conduct all used to destabilize enemy governments.

“Toxic Lullaby“: Eloise wakes up in a destroyed, life threatening world after a bad drug trip.

Movie Trailer: McConaughey is a Psychotic Hitman in ‘Killer Joe’

by Andre

From Oscar winning director, William Friedkin (‘The French Connection’ & ‘The Exorcist’), ‘Killer Joe’ is a tightly wound Texas-noir tale of murder, sex and drugs.  Matthew McConaughey plays Joe, a seductive cop who also moonlights as a vicious hitman in the new NC-17 thriller.  Thomas Haden Church brings some of the dark comedy as the simple-minded, beer-drinking Ansel, while Gina Gershon and Emile Hirsch provide the needed energy to round out the gutsy film.

‘Killer Joe’ competed and premiered at the 68th Venice Film Festival before making its North American debut at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival.

If you’re a fan of Matthew McConaughey, especially when he’s not in romantic comedies, then you’ll love ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ available on BIGSTAR!  (just click the banner)

Five Things You Didn’t Know About “Dark Shadows”

by Clarissa

Here are five things that you probably didn’t know about Johnny Depp’s latest film, “Dark Shadows.”

1. Underwear Models vs. White Hot

The first spark to create “Dark Shadows” came about while Johnny Depp and Tim Burton were on the set of “Sweeney Todd.” Depp noticed that vampires don’t actually look like real vampires in movies anymore. “A vampire should look like a vampire, and it was a kind of rebellion against vampires that look like underwear models,” said Depp.

Hmmm….A shot at the “Twilight” series perhaps?

2. #1 Fan

Johnny Depp was slightly obsessed with the TV show while growing up. Both he and Tim Burton admitted to running home from school to catch a glimpse of the dark soap opera. “I loved the show when I was a kid (and) I was obsessed with Barnabas Collins. I have photographs of me holding Barnabas Collins posters when I was 5 or 6,” said Depp.

3. Monster Mash

Burton felt it was necessary to pay homage to the original series by including some of the original cast in the grand ball scene. This cast includes: Kathryn Leigh Scott (Maggie Evans), David Selby (Quentin Collins), Lara Parker (Angelique), and Frid (in his last onscreen performance).

4. Just a Phone Call Away

Another “Dark Shadows” fanatic, Michelle Pfeiffer gave Tim Burton a ring when she heard rumors surfacing about the film. “I heard Tim was doing the movie; I called him, which I never do – I hadn’t talked to him in 20 years – and I just said, ‘Look, I just need to go on record as saying I would love to be a part of this. I don’t know if there’s anything for me.’ And a year later, he called. And he had this great part for me,” says Michelle.

5. Hands Off

It is not surprising that Tim Burton felt that it was absolutely necessary that the vampires have extremely long fingers in the movie. Johnny Depp agreed until he had to take care of some business. “In every film that I’ve been lucky enough to do with Tim, there’s always some form of torture, and the nails were Tim’s idea. They were the length of the fingers and stuff, but it was okay because I had a troop of people who would help me go to the bathroom. They had to have treatment afterwards but they’re okay now. That is true,” Depp admitted.
