Awkward comedy master John C. Reilly, or as his devout followers call him – Jesus C. Reilly - is now loaning his laughter-inducing voice to a Disney Animated film character. If you haven’t yet established, I have a certain dislike for actors who can only act one role; JC Reilly might appear to have this minor stigma in his repertoire – but not really:
The actor, even though playing several goofball rolls such as Dewey Cox, Dr. Steve Brule, Cal Naughton, Jr., brings a completely dynamic, fresh, and inventive personality to each role.
The picture above is just a facial glimpse of the comedy genious Reilly is able to generate in that funny, strange, sad mind he’s been gifted with. Check It Out! with Dr. Steve Brule, a 15 minute comedy short, has claimed more laughter from my body than any movies ever have combined. It’s set to appear like an early morning small town public broadcasting show; the questions he asks to his interviewees, as well as his insane antics and absence of people skills usher in an unprecedented amount of laughter. It’s contagious: you can’t stop the Reilly-itis.
Disney’s newly announced Reboot Ralph, whose main character is a “bad guy” in an arcade game; his mission is to become the opposite. And through this quest for redemption, he will interact with several characters voiced by some other peculiar, yet talented actors – prepare to hear the familiar voices of Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, and Glee‘s Jane Lynch. The thought of hearing Reilly’s voice more than any other character’s while seeing him act his comedy genious through an infamous 8-bit villian is nothing short of euphoric. Now, granted, Reilley’s voice will not float this rendered kiddie-movie to success; Disney must do their part and sprinkle in all of their ingredients to make this movie as good as Tangled.
I can’t wait to see what kind of soul he gives this pacman-esque character, but I am most likely going to wait until it’s available as a rental. But, in usual internet trend, I am sure it will be on Youtube several days before.
