Rumors are starting to surface that Avengers 2 might hit theaters May 1, 2015. The highly-anticipated sequel will be directed by the original film’s director, Joss Whedon.

The film’s scheduled release date is due in part to the original cast’s availability. The actors must finish filming their other Marvel projects first. Robert Downey Jr. is set to work on Iron Man 3, while Chris Evans has been booked for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Chris Hemsworth will also be starring in Thor: The Dark World.

Avengers fans can sit back and relax to see if the third top-grossing film can pull it off at the box office again.

“Avengers” Breaks Opening Weekend Record

“Avengers” did a number at the box office this weekend, shattering the domestic revenue record with a remarkable $200.3 million.

This topped the previous record of $169.2 million set by “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” making it the biggest opening weekend debut of all time.

The opening weekend record-breaker pushed the films’ worldwide revenue to $641.8 million, more than the other Marvel hits took home during their entire time in theaters.

Directed by Joss Whedon, “The Avengers” cast includes: Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

The success of “The Avengers” was critical to Marvel’s parent company, Disney, who recently suffered from the failed release of “John Carter” a few weeks ago. Disney and Marvel spent $220 million making “The Avengers.” This budget surpassed the $170 million it took to produce Marvel’s 2010 project, “Iron Man 2.” The star-studded cast of “The Avengers” was largely responsible for the increase in cost.

Here’s how the rest of the films at the box office performed domestically this weekend:

“The Avengers” (Disney):  $200.3 million

“Think Like a Man” (Sony): $8 million

“The Hunger Games” (Lionsgate): $5.7 million

“The Lucky One” (Warner Bros./Village Roadshow): $5.5 million

“The Pirates! Band of Misfits (Sony): $5.4 million

The Avengers, After They Save The World

So what do you think The Avengers do when they’re not preventing Thor’s brother Loki from destroying Earth?

Perhaps planning the planet’s defense at S.H.I.E.L.D Headquarters?

Fat chance.

They’re eating shawarma, of course… Hey, Avengers gotta eat too!

Baskin-Robbins ‘Men in Black III’ Ice Cream

The “Men in Black” are back and this time they are bringing frozen treats in honor of the third movie hitting theaters May 25. Baskin-Robbins will be releasing new and old flavors in celebration of “Men in Black III” next month.

“Lunar Cheesecake,” a popular flavor  from 1969, will be pulled out of the Baskin-Robbins vault to commemorate the new film. The last time this flavor was released was for the original moon landing.

New creations will include the “Lunar Lander” consisting of marshmallow and yellow cake, and “Agent 31″ for brownie and hot fudge lovers.

Baskin-Robbins is most excited about the “Pink Surprise Cake,” which resembles a dessert from a critical scene in the movie.

The ice cream chain acquired their movie co-promo experience when they offered “Captain America” flavors last summer. Fans can grab a scoop of the “Men in Black III”-themed treats beginning May 1 in Baskin-Robbins stores.
