From ‘Django’ to ‘Annie’

Jamie Foxx recently made a stunning appearance in ‘Django Unchained’ alongside his all-star cast. The actor announced today that he will be going in a slightly different direction for the remake of ‘Annie.’

Jamie Foxx will play Daddy Warbucks in the film which is directed by Will Smith. Rumors surfaced earlier in the month stating that Justin Timberlake was taking on the role, however, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Foxx is a more likely candidate. With Jay-Z also aboard the ‘Annie’ train, the film is looking like a major release for this year’s holiday season.

Why Did Will Smith Ditch ‘Django?’

Actor Will Smith was originally in the running to be cast in ‘Django Unchained.’ Smith recently revealed to Entertainment Weekly the real reason as to why he backed out.

Smith confessed, “Django wasn’t the lead, so it was like, I need to be the lead. The other character was the lead!” Smith’s departure from the film opened the door for Jamie Foxx to shine as Django.

Will’s latest excuse conflicts with the original story that he could not accept due to a scheduling conflict. He told Empire last summer, ”I came really close, it was one of the most amazing screenplays I had ever ever seen. I was in the middle of ‘Men In Black 3′ and [Tarantino] was ready to go, and I just couldn’t sit with him and get through the issues, so I didn’t want to hold him up. That thing’s going to be ridiculous. It is a genius screenplay.”

Looks like the secret’s out!

‘Django Unchained’ is Tarantino’s First Movie to Debut in China

The latest Tarantino film is heading overseas. The director is preparing to launch his famed movie in China on April 11. ‘Django Unchained’ has brought in $402 million worldwide thus far.

Sony Pictures made the announcement about the film’s release in the People’s Republic of China late last week. ‘Django’ has earned $80 million more than Tarantino’s ‘Inglourious Basterds.’

It is unknown how long the violent western will be permitted to be shown by the Chinese government, but most films normally receive a one-month engagement.

SNL & Christoph Waltz Stir Up Controversy With Hilarious Skit ‘DJESUS UNCROSSED’

Over the weekend ‘Saturday Night Live’ aired an undeniably hilarious pre-recorded segment that had some people laughing while stirring up a whole lot religious folk!

The skit is a parody of Quentin Tarantino’s Oscar nominated ‘Django Unchained’ featuring a mock trailer for the ultimate historical revenge story… starring “Jesus H. Christ” himself.  Oh boy.

Jesus is played in the SNL skit by the talented Christoph Waltz, who is also nominated for a best supporting actor Oscar for ‘Django Unchained’.

Religious activists are outraged by the skit blasting their opinions on Twitter describing it as “a new low” and “blasphemous”.  Perhaps it’s more upsetting for Christians since SNL aired this during Lent, one of the most revered periods on the Christian calendar.

It’s not the first time SNL has taken it to Christians… Recently they spoofed publicly religious devout athlete Tim Tebow in a skit where Jesus appeared inside the Denver Broncos’ locker room wearing sweats telling Tebow to slow down with all the religious hype.

Being a HUGE fan of SNL, Christoph Waltz, Quentin Tarantino, Django and even some of the moral stories that Christianity has to offer, I find this parody incredibly funny!

But that’s me… What do you think?  Hilarious?  Or is this the most blasphemous skit in ‘SNL’ history?  Tell us what you think on our Facebook post!

‘Django Unchained’ Action Figures Causing Controversy

‘Django Unchained’ has been in the headlines for weeks now, and will continue to be with the release of its recent toy line. The film is on track to becoming Tarantino’s top-grossing movie at the box office, earning $108 million in just a couple of weeks.

The new action figure line, based on the film which highlights pre-Civil War slavery, is raising eyebrows. People are outraged that the toys bring back the horrors of slavery.

For now, the toys are available online and are recommended for ages 17 and up.

Weekend Box Office Shocker

What a horror it was for Oscar-nominated ‘Django Unchained’ and ‘Les Mis’ at the box office this weeekend. ‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’ gave both movies a run for their money at the box office this weekend.

‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’ claimed the number one spot at the box office this weekend with $23 million. Studies found that R&B singer Trey Songz’ appearance led to the film’s exceptional performance this weekend.

Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Django Unchained’ took in $20 million, while ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ sat in third with $17.5 million. ‘Les Mis’ barely claimed the fourth place slot.

Why Did Sacha Baron Cohen Drop ‘Django Unchained?’

‘Django Unchained’ wins the award for most drop-outs this year. Sacha Baron Cohen, Jonah Hill, Kevin Costner, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt were all in the running to be in the film. Sacha Baron Cohen was set to play a character named Scotty, who did not end up being in the completed version of the film.

Cohen revealed to Deadline.com, “I was editing ‘The Dictator’ and we were very close to release and Paramount wouldn’t push the date. And then I knew I’d have to jump straight from there into ‘Les Mis’ and it basically became a choice of either pulling out of ‘Les Mis’ or pulling out of ‘Django.’ I’m sure ‘Django’ is an incredible movie, but it was essentially one scene.”

‘Django’ is performing just fine without Sacha Baron Cohen at the box office. The film has already taken in  $82.4 million, setting it on track for what could be Quentin Tarantino’s biggest release of all time.

Christmas Day Box Office Report: ‘Les Mis’ or ‘Django Unchained’?

‘Les Miserables’ won the Christmas Day box office Tuesday, making $18.1 million on its first day of release.  Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Django Unchained’ finished in a close second with $15 million.  Much to my surprise, but I’m assuming that ‘Les Mis’ did just a hair better since it’s significantly less violent than a Tarantino flick and, after all, it is a family-oriented holiday.

‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ lost it’s lead in the box office for the first time in two weeks but still came in third with $11.3 million.

And finally, Billy Crystal’s family comedy ‘Parental Guidance’ finished Christmas Day in fourth with $6.4 million.

“Django Unchained” Reviews

Quentin Tarantino’s most recent work is receiving lots of coverage by critics. The film is being referred to as one of the most disturbing projects created by Tarantino.

The gore, torture, and language has given “Django Unchained” the reputation as one of the most grotesque films created by the director. In addition, critics believe that the film is too long at just under three hours.

Although Leonardo DiCaprio plays the plantation owner, he makes his first appearance one hour into the film, while Jonah Hill only has about two minutes of screen time.

Overall, the reviews recommend that you head out to see these Civil War bounty hunters take on the big screen in “Django Unchained.”

New ‘Django Unchained’ Trailer Reveals Samuel L. Jackson

Check out the awesome new trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s next big thing. Last week, we got a dose of the film due out this Christmas.

The newly released, international trailer introduces us to Samuel L. Jackson’s slave character. This trailer also provides a clearer storyline in comparison to the teaser trailer released last week.
