WATCH: Action-Packed Trailer for ‘WHITE HOUSE DOWN’ Starring Channing Tatum & Jamie Foxx

In January we showed you the trailer for Gerard Butler’s ‘Olympus Has Fallen’, which is in theaters now.  Turns out The White House under attack is a common theme this year in Hollywood because there’s another blockbuster film set to hit the silver screen on June 28th called ‘White House Down’!

The action-packed movie stars Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx in what looks like a similar plot line…

Capitol Policeman John Cale (Channing Tatum) has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting President James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx). Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group.  Now, with the nation’s government falling into chaos and time running out, it’s up to Cale to save the president, his daughter, and the country.

From freed slave to bounty hunter to President, Jamie Foxx is making all the right moves!

‘White House Down’ also stars Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke, Richard Jenkins, and James Woods.  It’s directed by Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, 2012, The Day After Tomorrow).  Here’s the awesome trailer!

And here’s a cool movie poster…

Ryan Gosling Announces He’s Taking a Break From Acting!

Sorry ladies, that headline is not a misprint.  Ryan Gosling has in fact announced he’s taking a hiatus from his acting career.  In a recent interview Gosling stated:

“I’ve been doing it too much. I’ve lost perspective on what I’m doing… I think it’s good for me to take a break and reassess why I’m doing it and how I’m doing it.  And I think this is probably a good way to learn about that… I need a break from myself as much as I imagine the audience does.”

The 32 year old heartthrob has been working in TV and film since he was 8.  He went on to say:

“I don’t know what I’m doing. I haven’t quite figured out what the balance is between being able to be lost in it — or try to, anyway — and then step outside of it… There’s a lot of pressure to be the lead of a film. I have done it. It’s not my favorite way to work.”

It’s understandable and probably a good thing that Gosling has the self-awareness to know that he needs a break from Hollywood.  We hear too often of actors that lose their focus, turn to self-destructive behavior, or even become sellouts taking awful roles.  So personally, I applaud his transparency and humility.

But that’s me.  Women everywhere are probably in tears. I think I even heard a kitten cry.

His next movie ‘The Place Beyond The Pines’ opens on March 29th.  If you need your RyGo fix now, here’s the trailer…

Throwback Thursday: 1980 Interview With Tony Danza & His Porsche!

It’s “Throwback Thursday” and we found some old footage from a Huell Howser 1980 interview with actor Tony Danza at the famous Pink’s Hot Dogs in Los Angeles… That’s 33 years ago!

Huell Howser’s interviews were always very natural and barely edited so you really get to see the interviewee be themselves.  Here, a very young and fresh Tony Danza (‘Taxi’ & ‘Who’s The Boss?’), talks about life in LA versus New York, being charitable to kids, his sweet ’57 Porsche Speedster, and his upcoming movie ‘Going Ape’ starring Jessica Walter, Danny DeVito and three orangutans.

Two of my favorite things about it are Danza’s complete honesty and all the old, classic cars passing by in the background.

Enjoy!

“Argo F%#$ Yourself!” Real-Life Spy Artifacts Used by CIA on Display

First the Critics Choice Award, then the Golden Globe, then the SAG Award, then the Director’s Guild Award, and now an Oscar for Best Picture!!  You have to believe that Ben Affleck, the CIA, and Canada are all basking in the glory right now.

Since the events in the award-winning movie are based on a very real historical event, artifacts are beginning to surface.  And now some of those declassified materials used by the CIA in its elaborate rescue operation are on display at an in exhibit in New York’s Discovery Times Square.

If you’re unfamiliar with the events that took place in 1979 Iran, then here’s a quick rundown:  A rescue mission was coordinated by members of the CIA, Canadian government, and Hollywood to retrieve six U.S. embassy employees from Iran who had gone into hiding after militant mobs raided the U.S. embassy in Tehran during the Iranian Revolution.  Using a science-fiction film as cover, which of course was a fake, the CIA and Hollywood created a production studio to serve as a front while the spies extracted the Americans, who were hiding in the home of the Canadian ambassador.

The pieces on display range from historical concept art by comic book artist Jack Kirby to actual business cards and stationary from the fake production studio!

WATCH: First Promo Trailer for New ‘Hannibal’ TV Series

Back in October we showed you behind the scenes photos from the upcoming TV series ‘Hannibal’.  And today we bring you the first promo trailer for Bryan Fuller’s thriller!

The roles play out like this: Mads Mikkelsen is Hannibal, Hugh Dancy is the FBI agent Will Graham, and Laurence Fishburne is his superior Jack Crawford.

By the way… Mads Mikkelsen.  What a cool and appropriate name this actor has.

Based on the best-selling novel ”Red Dragon”, the TV series will start at the beginning as a prequel to the well-known movies.  The story will follow Graham as he investigates a series of brutal murders, subsequently reaching out for the help of the brilliant psychiatrist Dr. Lecter, unbeknownst that the good doctor is living a double life as a cannibalistic killer.

NBC will air 13 episodes for the first season premiering April 4th, 2013.

“What If” Star Wars: Episode VII Movie Posters: Directed By Tarantino, Woody Allen, or Tim Burton

The folks at IGN must have been a little bored today because they decided to show us what it would be like if Quentin Tarantino, Woody Allen, Tim Burton, or Martin Scorsese were to direct the much anticipated ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’.

In hindsight doesn’t the decision to have J.J. Abrams direct the next saga make perfect sense?  I can think of at least a few other movie posters featuring directors that would be amusing to look at, but terrifying to think of.

Here are a few that were mocked up…

Check Out Ryan Gosling and Will Ferrell Selling Knives On TV!

The other night Will Ferrell and Ryan Gosling interrupted the Jimmy Kimmel Live show to promote their awesome line of knives on QVC.  Apparently there was some confusion since Jimmy was recently moved to a new time slot, unknowing that the “Knife Guys” have been using the studio at that particular time for the past three months.

It’s always a pleasure to see impromptu comedy sketches, especially when it involves Will Farrell and knives.  But what’s impressive here is the guts Ryan Gosling had to stand there holding a box while Farrell swung a samurai sword at it over and over.  You can even see Gosling’s thumbs get out of the way of the massacre.  Eep!

Brad Pitt Joins China’s Sina Weibo With Cryptic Tweet

Brad Pitt has joined Sina Weibo, China’s hybrid version of Twitter and Facebook, with a mysterious first tweet hinting at a trip to the country ultimately causing an internet flurry of chatter and speculation.

His post simply said, “It is the truth. Yup, I’m coming.”

The real surprise here, if you didn’t already know, is that Pitt has allegedly been banned from China, thanks in major part to his role in the 1997 film ‘Seven Years In Tibet’.  Pitt is well known for his political, humanitarian, and philanthropical efforts that have included criticizing the Chinese government’s controversial rule (lightly put) in Tibet.

In 1997, a statement from the powers that be in China wrote that Hollywood could never be forgiven for their film “Seven Years in Tibet”.

I can just imagine the security, pandemonium, and political ramifications of his visit.
