Director Quentin Tarantino will take on a Western film in his next venture called ‘Django Unchained.’ It’s no surprise since the eccentric director is an enormous fan of ”Spaghetti Westerns.” In this film Tarantino pays homage to both Sergio Corbucci’s original ‘Django (1966)’, not to mention Takashi Miike’s ‘Sukiyaki Western Django’, which were largely influenced by legendary samurai film director, Akira Kurosawa.
This Western follows Django, a freed slave played by Jamie Foxx, who is recruited by a German dentist turned bounty hunter, Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz). Together, they try to retrieve Django’s wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) from the charming but sadistic Francophile plantation owner Calvin Candie, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, and his band of ruthless slavers.
Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell and Sacha Baron Cohen also star.
