Tom Cruise is on top at the box office once again thanks to ‘Oblivion.’ The movie performed better than ’42′ and ‘The Croods,’ giving Tom Cruise a slight ego boost after his last two box office flops.

FIRST LOOK: Behind-The-Scene Photos of Tom Cruise in ‘All You Need Is Kill’

From director Doug Liman comes the new sci-fi action film ‘All You Need Is Kill’ starring Tom Cruise based on a Japanese novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka.  The movie follows a soldier in a war against aliens who finds himself reliving his last day in the battle over and over again after being killed, causing him to be a better soldier with every return experience.

Sounds a lot like Bill Murray’s ‘Groundhog Day’, but in a science fiction setting…in the future… with aliens… and in a bloody war.  Not so funny anymore, but it looks like it could be great!

Also starring is Emily Blunt as a soldier who fight alongside lead character Cruise, and Bill Paxton, a hardcore, gritty platoon sergeant.  (Check below for the official synopsis)

Official Synopsis:

The story unfolds in a near future in which a hive-like alien race, called Mimics, have hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, shredding great cities to rubble and leaving millions of human casualties in their wake. No army in the world can match the speed, brutality or seeming prescience of the weaponized Mimic fighters or their telepathic commanders. But now the world’s armies have joined forces for a last stand offensive against the alien horde, with no second chances.

Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously demoted and then dropped—untrained and ill-equipped—into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Cage is killed within minutes, managing to take an Alpha down with him. But, impossibly, he awakens back at the beginning of the same hellish day, and is forced to fight and die again…and again. Direct physical contact with the alien has thrown him into a time loop—dooming him to live out the same brutal combat over and over.

But with each pass, Cage becomes tougher, smarter, and able to engage the Mimics with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt), who has lain waste to more Mimics than anyone on Earth. As Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated battle becomes an opportunity to find the key to annihilating the alien invaders and saving the Earth.

Tom Cruise Sues Magazine for $50 Million

Tom Cruise is suing Life & Style and In Touch magazines for claiming that he abandoned his daughter, Suri.

Following the divorce in July, Life & Style‘s cover read, “Suri in Tears: Abandoned by Her Dad.” In Touch chose a similar cover with a photo of Suri and a headline that said, “Abandoned by Daddy.”

Bauer Publishing owns both of the magazines, and they are about to face an angry Tom Cruise. Cruise filed the claim on Wednesday with the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.

Cruise’s lawyer, Bert Fields, told TMZ, “Tom is a caring father who dearly loves Suri. She’s a vital part of his life and always will be. To say he has ‘abandoned’ her is a vicious lie. To say it in lurid headlines with a tearful picture of Suri is reprehensible.”

This will be the fourth time that Tom Cruise has sued a magazine publication.

Today In Movie History: ‘Goodfellas’ Released

On September 19th 1990, Martin Scorsese’s ‘Goodfellas’ opened at theaters worldwide.  And in honor of this masterpiece we have some fun facts and behind-the-scenes info about the movie…

  • The “You think I’m funny?” scene was based on a true story.  While working in a restaurant as a young man, Joe Pesci once told a mobster that he was funny and the mobster became very angry.
  • The movie was originally named “Wiseguy”.
  • The word “fuck” is used 296 times, half of which were said by Joe Pesci.
  • When Henry and Karen Hill are negotiating to enter the Witness Protection Program, former U.S. Attorney Edward McDonald plays himself, re-enacting what he did in real life.
  • At Martin Scorsese’s request, associates of the actual people were always on the set of the film, giving helpful and essential information about the life, people, settings and moods.
  • During one of the final scenes, Henry Hill opens his front door and picks up a newspaper. The newspaper is the Youngstown Vindicator as an homage to Youngstown, Ohio, which has been called Mobtown USA.
  • After the premiere, Henry Hill went around and revealed his true identity. In response, the government kicked him out of the Federal Witness Protection Program.
  • Al Pacino was offered the role of Jimmy Conway but he turned it down due to fears of typecasting.  He admits he regrets this decision.
  • Tom Cruise and Madonna were the producers’ first choice for the roles of Henry Hill and his wife…. Yikes!!

Celebrities And Their Private Jet Planes. Who Flies What.

Donald Trump bought his Boeing 757 in 2011 for $100 million.

Ever wonder how some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, the Internet’s wealthiest moguls, and the all around uber-rich travel the globe?  So did we.  Looks like the skies are a little bit friendlier to the jet-setting rich and famous.

Al Waleed bin Talal is the only individual to own an Airbus A380 Double Decker for personal use.  Oh and it’s worth $500 million.  That’s some serious dough!

Google’s Sergey Brin cruises in a Boeing 767 that costs roughly $35 million when all is said and done.

Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg share ownership of a $50 million Boeing Business Jet.

Oprah Winfrey enjoys a Bombadier Global Express.  Thought she’d have a bigger plane.

Tom Cruise, Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay each coast in a Gulfstream G4 or G450 at a mere $35 million to $38 million. No biggie.

David Geffen, Mark Cuban and Peter Jackson zip around in a Gulfstream G5 or G550, which costs more than $60 million.

Morgan Freeman owns and flies a very fast Syberjet Sj30 for $8 million.

Holmes is Back!

Source: topnews.in

Once the star of the 90s series “Daswon’s Creek,” Katie Holmes is now luggage-free and ready to take over the acting world. Her last film prior to marrying Tom Cruise was “Pieces of April,” in which she played a struggling New Yorker trying to impress her visiting suburban family.

She later returned to the big screen when she starred in “Batman Begins” in 2005. Holmes then backed out of “Dark Knight,” which became one of the biggest movies of the decade. Katie took on some smaller roles while dating Tom in “Mad Money,” “Jack and Jill,” and “The Romantics.”

There is hope for Holmes’ future, as she just completed shooting a modern adaption of Chekhov’s “The Segull,” and will begin shooting a film she co-wrote and produces called “Molly.”

It is evident that her marriage to Tom Cruise put Katie’s acting career on the back burner. Her now six-year-old daughter, Suri, is ready for school, allowing Holmes more time to focus on her roles. Hollywood is confident that Holme’s career will take off again, as she was always a true natural in front of the camera.
