BIGSTAR Review

This is one of those films, viewers, that will hold you tight in its grasp from the start. From the opening scene to the last two minutes "Desolate" screams out for your undivided attention in each and every way. We follow Chad who is reeling from the breakup with his girlfriend Annie and when I say reeling I mean that Chad is on the verge of going stark raving mad. He has become obsessed and I am speaking of an obsession that reaches epic proportions. To make matters worse, Chad has decided in his lunacy that it is actually his best friend Devon who is the reason for the break up, in fact, in his jealous psychotic mind, Chad believes that Devon is seeing Annie behind his back. This is all a delicious recipe for drama and disaster especially considering that a doomsday component is added in and the world is indeed coming to an end at the hands of monster-creatures. As "Desolate" reaches the climax you will find yourself completely torn between wanting to know what will happen next and simultaneously not wanting the movie to end. My absolute favorite aspect of the film however, is this little fact: "Shot over a 3 year period, during free weekends, and in between his 2nd feature film with NO crew and NO script, ..." yes viewers, this is what makes true movie making pure genius! Directors like Rob Grant fueled with passion and little money are what this industry is all about. I, for one, cannot wait to see Grant's upcoming films. Watch "Desolate" tonight as I am positive you will agree!
