BIGSTAR Review

Part drama, part romance, all mystery, "El Queztal De Jade" slips into a world of murder and intrigue within the first ten minutes of the film. The cinematography is rich and that is putting it mildly, I found myself so in awe of the beautiful scenery and shots that I kept forgetting to read the subtitles! Yes, viewers this film is a blend of English and Spanish and it is so worth the watch and read! Guatemala is now on my "must-visit-soon" list and will be on yours as well if you choose to embark on this "novella-style" journey. The storyline has a quintessential murder-mystery plot, yet with great direction and decent acting, they typical becomes absorbing. The murder of a wealthy man whisks a private detective off to Guatemala and as he gets closer to discovering the truth and reason behind the murder, he finds himself entangled with a stunning femme fatale. Directed by the Dastoli brothers, and starring Dario Soler (a heartthrob) and Marlene Marquez (gorgeous) I have to say that despite the agonizing slow pace of the film, I was riveted throughout the film. "El Queztal De Jade" is not the best murder-mystery film of all time, but TRULY will find you submerged in the plot as you try to figure out "whodunit!"
